Performance issue: Planning sheet slow to load with 500 rows

My Planning sheet has about 500 account rows and 24 monthly columns. Initial load takes 15-20 seconds. Is this expected? Our semantic model is on F64 capacity in DirectLake mode. After load it's fine — just the initial rendering is painful.

In Direct Lake mode, the first query after a long idle period can be slow because the engine cold-starts. Subsequent loads will be much faster due to caching. If you're seeing 15-20s consistently, look at your DAX measure complexity first.

Also check the Capacity Metrics app while loading. If you see CU spikes on that first query, you may be triggering Direct Lake fallback to DirectQuery mode, which is significantly slower.

500 rows × 24 columns = 12,000 cells being calculated from the semantic model on first load. 15-20s is on the high side. Check whether your semantic model has heavy calculated measures that fire on the initial ALL() context — these can be expensive.
