Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy describes how Lumel Technologies Inc. (“Lumel”, “we”, “us”, or “our”) collects, uses, and protects your personal information when you use the Fabric Plan community at community.fabricplan.com (the “Community”).

The Community is a space for planning professionals to learn, discuss, and share knowledge. By creating an account or using the Community, you agree to the practices described in this policy.

1. Information We Collect

1.1 Information you provide directly

• Account information. When you register, we collect your name, email address, username, and password (stored in hashed form). You may optionally provide additional profile details such as a profile photo, job title, company, biography, and links to your professional profiles.
• Content you post. Forum topics, replies, comments, feature ideas, votes, and any other content you contribute to the Community.
• Communications. Messages you send to us, such as support requests or feedback.

1.2 Information collected when you sign in with LinkedIn

If you choose to register or sign in using LinkedIn, we receive the following from LinkedIn with your consent:

• Your name, email address, and profile photo
• A unique LinkedIn identifier (“sub”), which we store to link your LinkedIn account to your Community account

We do not receive your LinkedIn password, connections, or any information beyond what LinkedIn’s sign-in service provides. Your use of LinkedIn is governed by LinkedIn’s own privacy policy.

1.3 Information collected automatically

• Usage data. Pages visited, searches performed, features used, and interactions with Community content.

• Activity and gamification data. Points, badges, ranks, and achievements earned through participation in the Community.

• Technical data. IP address, browser type, device information, operating system, and referring URLs.

• Cookies. See Section 6 below.

• Analytics. We use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use the Community, such as which pages are visited and how users navigate the site. Google Analytics uses cookies and may collect your IP address and usage information, which is processed by Google as described in Google’s Privacy Policy. You can opt out using the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

• Create and manage your Community account
• Operate Community features, including forums, discussions, search, profiles, and gamification (points, badges, and ranks)
• Send transactional emails such as registration confirmations, password resets, and notifications for topics or forums you subscribe to
• Moderate content and enforce our Terms of Service
• Improve the Community, diagnose technical issues, and maintain security
• Comply with legal obligations

We do not send marketing or promotional emails to Community members. Emails from the Community are transactional or notification-based (for example, account emails and subscription notifications you have opted into).

We do not sell your personal information.

3. Public Nature of the Community

The Community is a public forum. Please be aware that:

• Your username, profile photo, and profile information are visible to other Community members and, depending on your settings, to the public.
• Forum posts, replies, ideas, and comments you publish are publicly visible and may be indexed by search engines.
• Gamification achievements (points, badges, ranks) may be displayed publicly on your profile and on leaderboards.

Do not post personal information you do not want to be public. If you delete a post, quoted or referenced copies made by other members may remain.

4. How We Share Your Information

We share personal information only in the following circumstances:

• Service providers. We use third-party providers who process data on our behalf under appropriate agreements, including WP Engine (website hosting), SendGrid (email delivery), and Google Analytics (site analytics, as described in Section 1.3).
• LinkedIn. If you use LinkedIn sign-in, authentication data is exchanged with LinkedIn as described in Section 1.2.
• Legal requirements. We may disclose information if required by law, legal process, or to protect the rights, safety, or property of Lumel, our users, or others.
• Business transfers. If Lumel is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to this policy.

The Community is operated by Lumel. While Fabric Plan is developed in partnership with Microsoft, Microsoft does not operate this Community and does not receive your Community account data from us, except where you separately interact with Microsoft services under their own terms.

5. Data Retention

We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Community. If you delete your account:

• Your profile information and email address are removed from active systems.
• Your forum posts may be retained in anonymized form (attributed to a deleted/anonymous user) to preserve the continuity of discussions, or deleted upon request.
• We may retain limited information as necessary to comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, or enforce agreements.

6. Cookies

We use cookies and similar technologies that are necessary for the Community to function:

• Session cookies to keep you signed in
• Security cookies, including a short-lived cookie used to protect the LinkedIn sign-in flow against cross-site request forgery (CSRF)
• Preference cookies to remember your settings

In addition, we use analytics cookies set by Google Analytics to help us understand how the Community is used (see Section 1.3). Where required by law, we will request your consent before setting non-essential cookies.

You can control cookies through your browser settings. Disabling essential cookies may prevent you from signing in or using parts of the Community.

7. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the right to:

• Access the personal information we hold about you
• Correct inaccurate information (much of your profile can be edited directly in your account settings)
• Delete your account and personal information
• Export a copy of your data in a portable format
• Object to or restrict certain processing
• Withdraw consent where processing is based on consent

To exercise these rights, contact us at privacy@fabricplan.com or use the account tools available in your profile settings. We will respond within the timeframe required by applicable law.

If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, you also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority. If you are a California resident, you have rights under the CCPA/CPRA, including the right to know, delete, and opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information (as noted above, we do not sell personal information).

8. International Data Transfers

The Community is operated from the United States, and your information is stored and processed on servers located in the United States. If you access the Community from outside the United States, you understand that your information will be transferred to and processed in the United States, where data protection laws may differ from those in your jurisdiction. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards (such as standard contractual clauses) for international transfers.

9. Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including encrypted connections (HTTPS), hashed password storage, and access controls. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

10. Children’s Privacy

The Community is intended for professionals and is not directed at children. You must be at least 16 years old (or the minimum age required in your jurisdiction) to create an account. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated version on this page with a revised “Last updated” date, and for material changes we will provide additional notice (such as an email or a Community announcement). Your continued use of the Community after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
