The Fabric Planning community is where practitioners working on Microsoft Fabric compare notes on how planning actually gets done. FP&A analysts, demand and S&OP planners, revenue planners, BI developers and finance leaders — people building budgets, forecasts and driver models on governed Fabric data, and running into the same problems as each other.
It’s run by the team at Lumel, who co-engineered Planning in Microsoft Fabric IQ with Microsoft. But it isn’t a product marketing channel. The forums are where people ask questions that don’t have clean answers yet, and the blog is where we publish what we’ve learned rather than what we’d like you to believe.
The community is run by Lumel, a Microsoft Strategic ISV Partner for Microsoft Fabric and the co-engineering partner behind Planning in Microsoft Fabric IQ.
Lumel builds enterprise performance management software — planning, reporting, analytics and data governance — natively on Microsoft Fabric and Power BI, rather than as a separate SaaS platform requiring its own data store. The company is headquartered in Plano, Texas, with more than 400 team members supporting over 3,000 customers worldwide, and over 15 years of product expertise behind it.
The expertise behind the products goes back further than the products themselves. The team came out of Visual BI Solutions, running analytics and performance management engagements directly alongside CFOs, finance leaders and operations managers — and each product since has encoded a layer of what they learned there: ValQ for scenario planning and simulation, xViz for visualization, BI Hub for governing BI assets, and Inforiver for enterprise planning with writeback inside Power BI.
Planning in Microsoft Fabric IQ is the culmination of that work — planning, intelligence and data management unified natively in Fabric, built on the semantic models organisations have already invested in.

Credibility
Why trust what you read here
Fair question for any vendor-run community. A few things worth knowing:
The partnership is real and public. Microsoft announced the collaboration on the Microsoft Fabric Blog, and Planning in Fabric IQ was introduced at FabCon as a capability co-engineered with Lumel. This isn’t a third-party bolt-on.
The recognition is third-party. Lumel was rated 4.94 out of 5 in the 2025 BPM Partners Pulse Study — the highest score of any EPM vendor evaluated — and was named Overall Leader in Customer Experience in Dresner’s Wisdom of Crowds EPM Market Study, with a Trust Leader placement in its Vendor Credibility Model.
The answers come from named people. Forum replies and blog posts carry author names, not a house account. You can see who’s telling you something and judge accordingly.
We publish problems, not just wins. If something doesn’t work yet, or has a workaround rather than a fix, that’s what the post will say.
