Cannot add Forecast Table to Semantic Model

Hello everyone,

I am currently working through the Learning Path and I got stuck on E2. The first issue with the extended Forecasting date was already mentioned here and I used the workaround.

However, after the writeback, I went on to add the Fabric SQL table into my semantic model and I got this error:

{"error":{"code":"DMTS_DatasourceHasNoCredentialError","pbi.error":{"code":"DMTS_DatasourceHasNoCredentialError","details":[{"code":"Path","detail":{"type":1,"value":"c:\\users\\logeshkumarsivakumar\\onedrive - lumel technologies inc\\lumel\\datasets\\acme beverages\\brewery_transactions_complete.csv"}},{"code":"ConnectionType","detail":{"type":0,"value":"File"}}],"exceptionCulprit":1}}}

It seems to be caused by another source that was already in the model, not the Writeback table but now the Semantic Model is broken and I can't go on - and I can't revert to the previous state without setting everything up from scratch.

Hi Marion,

We've identified a documentation gap in the training file. For this exercise, only steps 1–13 are in scope. You can safely skip everything from Step 14 onward.

Step 14 only applies if you have a semantic model that you personally create and manage. In that case, you can add the writeback table to it, define the relationships, and bring the writeback data into a report. Since that setup isn't part of this exercise, you can disregard it entirely.

Apologies for the confusion. We'll update the training document to make this clearer.
