Can a PowerTable column be a Self Reference to a value in the same table?

Hi there,

I've just started using PowerTables and had a question around the functionality of Self Referencing Validations for Columns.

I am scoping out potentially using PowerTable as a possible middleground to MDM for Customers.
I want to create a schema where there will be one Column which will be a Unique Customer Code [Customer Code] and then another column which will act as the parent [Parent Customer Code]

To ensure validation on the [Parent Customer Code] i want to be able to only select values that are present in the same table in [Customer Code].
Is something like this possible in PowerTables today?

I know there are ways to reference tables from other PowerTables or other Fabric SQL items.... but couldn't find a way to have it be a 'self referencing' in the same table.

Has anyone come across this pattern or know if there is a workaround at all?

Hi JamesR,

Thank you for reaching out to the Fabric Plan Community!

Could you please share your table structure(along with relationship to the Customer Code and Parent Customer Code) with a sample and explain what you would like to achieve in PowerTable? This will help us better understand your requirement and explore the available options.

Looking forward to your response!

Hi JamesR,

Yes, you can do this.  Here is an example with an employee table and a manager field:
