How to change Database for a PowerTable sheet?

We've been using PowerTable to setup master data/reference tables. When we now deploy it to Test, it still points to the Dev DB. How do I make it point to the Test DB?

I noticed that there is a Variable Library option when we create a new sheet (this did not exist a few weeks ago) and if we use it it correctly points to the Test DB when deployed.

However, when I try to edit an existing PowerTable and go to Manage Connection or Table Settings, only the Connection option is shown and no database option is available to switch to a variable, as you can see below.

Hi Vivek,

We do not support changing the database once it is configured. The reason is that things like audit and approval history are tied to specific records in the database. If you change the database, then that history may become misleading or invalid.  We are exploring the ability to change the direct database connection to a variable, however, there could be limitations to that like only being able to select a variable that points to the existing database.

So, if you are creating a Plan item that you intend to deploy through deployment pipelines, then we recommend creating it initially using variables for the database and semantic models.

Hi Eric,

Thanks for the response and for providing the justification.

"We are exploring the ability to change the direct database connection to a variable, however, there could be limitations to that like only being able to select a variable that points to the existing database." - This seems like a good enough option and the limitation seems appropriate too.

Right now, is there any way to change the connection to a variable, perhaps at a code level considering the code is in git? I do have 30+ tables that I will need to re-create so trying to find if there are any easier/faster ways to get it done, hence the ask.
