4.2 - Create plans with formulas

Learn how to create formula columns, use intellisense, and configure calculations in a planning sheet.

1. In the Planning ribbon, go to Insert Column > Formula.
2. Enter Plan as the name for the formula measure.
3. Select Visual Measure or Visual Column.
4. Select Number as the data type.

5. Select the formula field and use the References tab to insert references to measures or dimensions.

6. Open the Functions tab to use built-in functions in the formula.

7. Use IntelliSense to insert references or built-in functions.

8. This example shows a basic formula to calculate plan values at 7% above the previous year's revenue values for the same period.

9. Select Sum as the column aggregation type.

10. Select Formula as the row aggregation type.

11. The formula measure is inserted.
