Get started with reporting visuals

Create reports that present data in the format best suited to your audience. Use table visuals to show data as flat tables, matrix visuals to analyze data across rows and columns, and embed planning sheets and PowerTable sheets to include detailed planning and operational data directly in your reports.

Show tabular and hierarchical data with tables and matrices#

Tables and matrices show detailed data in rows and columns so you can review, compare, and analyze individual records. Add tables and matrix visuals to show granular data alongside visualizations and KPIs.

  1. Select Matrix from the Visualizations pane and assign row and column dimensions to create matrix tables. Matrix visuals support hierarchical dimensions in rows and columns. The toolbar includes four ribbons:

    • Use the Matrix ribbon to change layouts, insert charts, format numbers, apply templates, configure filter context, and select columns to show.
    • Use the Format ribbon to customize the matrix extensively.
    • Use the Data ribbon to sort, filter, rank, define translations, and insert custom rows and columns.
    • Configure writeback and persist your reports to a SQL database in Fabric from the Writeback ribbon.
  2. Select the Table visual and assign row dimensions to create flat tables. Use the Table, Format, Data, and Writeback ribbons for the same operations you apply in the matrix visual.

Embed planning and PowerTable sheets#

Build reports from the data you enter in your planning and PowerTable sheets for integrated insights. For more information about real-time planning and reporting, see Visualize simulations, budgets, and forecasts.

To use planning or PowerTable sheets in intelligence sheets, you must create them within the same plan.

  • To insert a PowerTable sheet, select PowerTable from the Visualizations pane. Select the sheet to import.
  • To insert a planning sheet, select Planning from the Visualizations pane. Select the sheet to import.
